Chelen Garnes, who emerged as a key backup during the 2019 season, has reentered the NCAA transfer portal. Garnes, who played in all 13 games as a freshman, posted the news to his Twitter account on Monday afternoon.
“I would like to thank the United States Naval Academy and their coaches for giving me the opportunity to grow and play college football. I would like to thank all my teammates for the lifelong relationships we built, on and off the field, and the lasting memories," Garnes wrote in a letter he signed at the bottom.
“However, after much consideration, pray and conversation with my family, I have decided to enter my name in the transfer portal," Garnes continued.
