SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Shawn Anderson had 18 points as Navy cracked the win column with a 67-55 victory over South Carolina Upstate Thursday night,
Anderson, a sophomore, shot 6-for-9 from the floor -- including 2-for-2 from 3-point range -- and added five assists for the Midshipmen (1-2).
Tilman Dunbar scored 11 points and Jace Hogan 10 for Navy, which made 27 of 58 shots and led the entire game. Navy was up 34-19 at the half, its first halftime lead this season.
USC Upstate (0-3) fought to within 55-49 on a Deion Holmes 3-pointer with 7:01 left to play, but Navy surged away when Anderson scored the next 8 points on two foul shots and three straight layups, forcing a Spartans timeout.
