Opponents hate having to prepare for Navy’s patented triple-option offense. That’s because it is almost impossible to teach a defense how to defend the unique attack in the span of a week.
Memphis head coach Mike Norvell was already dreading that challenge when he sat down to watch the Navy-Air Force contest this past Saturday. What Norvell saw from the Midshipmen literally made him sick.
“I was throwing up all day,” Norvell said, only half-jokingly.
Norvell looked on with disbelief as Navy unveiled a zone option offense against Air Force and proceeded to pile up 48 points and 557 total yards.
