Navy’s basketball programs open Patriot League play on Friday night with the men traveling to Loyola Maryland and the women hosting the Baltimore school.
Both ballclubs are coming off successful non-conference campaigns with the women compiling a stellar 10-1 record and the men checking in at 9-4.
Navy’s women were picked fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, which now looks like a serious underestimation. With senior captains Hannah Fenske and Taylor Dunham leading the way, the Midshipmen have shown they are a definite contender for the championship.
“I think we have a good team. I like our talent, I like our depth, I like our versatility and I like our toughness,” Navy head coach Stefanie Pemper said.
