Pitchers Luke Gillingham and Noah Song were lightly recruited coming out of high school. They were professional prospects by the time they graduated from the Naval Academy.
Assistant coach Bobby Applegate was a huge reason why those two pitchers improved dramatically during their four years in Annapolis, as both ended up being selected in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
“At the Naval Academy it’s always going to be about developing players,” head coach Paul Kostacopoulos said. “As far as some of the pitchers are concerned, you’re talking about profound development. I don’t think we could ever have projected what some of these guys would accomplish.
