Athletic director Chet Gladchuk said only the lower bowl of the “Blue Side” of the stadium will be open for lacrosse and said 25% of that portion amounts to approximately 7,500 fans.
Last season, Navy men’s lacrosse drew fewer than 1,000 spectators for the three home games it played between Feb. 8 and March 7. Women’s lacrosse averaged fewer than 400 fans for home games against ranked opponents Virginia and Duke.
Gladchuk guessed the only lacrosse home game likely to approach 7,500 fans would be Army-Navy men’s lacrosse on April 24. If necessary, more seating at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium will be opened to accommodate a larger crowd.
