Morgan State successfully turned its defense into offense during a 75-51 victory by the Bears (1-3) over the Navy men’s basketball team (2-3) Tuesday night at Hill Field House in Baltimore.
“This was a disappointing loss,” said Navy head coach Ed DeChellis. “We didn’t do any of what we talked about doing all day yesterday.”
Morgan State held a slim lead through most of the first half. The Mids had cut a nine-point deficit down to three points with just under four minutes left in the opening stanza, but the Bears soon sank back-to-back triples in a span of 12 seconds as part of an 8-0 run that boosted their cushion out to 34-23 with a little more than one minute left to play before intermission.
