Navy players and coaches are still trying to figure out the final foul called in Friday night's exciting Division I semifinal matchup with Boston College.
Senior attacker Morgan Young had just scooped a ground ball to give the Midshipmen possession when suddenly, and inexplicably, the whistle blew. Navy head coach Cindy Timchal, who knows the rules better than anyone, was apoplectic.
Officials called a foul on Navy and gave the ball back to Boston College, which managed to salt away the final 48 seconds, escaping with a thrilling 16-15 win.
Navy asked for an explanation after the game and was told by the referee that made the call that defender Caitlin McGlaughlin had obstructed a Boston College player that was going after the ball.
