MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two years ago, Memphis was undefeated and ranked 15th nationally when it hosted Navy at the Liberty Bowl before a national television audience. There was a lot of buzz about the Tigers, who were riding a 15-game winning streak and boasted a future NFL quarterback in Paxton Lynch and hot head coach in Justin Fuente.
Quarterback Keenan Reynolds directed a ball-control offense that dominated the night as Navy routed Memphis, 45-20. The Midshipmen rushed for 374 yards and possessed the ball for almost 37 minutes in humbling the Tigers at home.
