MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis football was rocked on Saturday by revelations that backup defensive end Ernest Suttles had been dismissed in the wake of a serious criminal charge.

Memphis police announced via Twitter that Suttles had been charged with rape in connection with an incident that occurred in the wee hours of Saturday morning. That tweet was sent just prior to the start of the Memphis football home game against Navy.
