Navy’s vaunted triple-option offense hasn’t operated as designed so far this season. Due largely to subpar play at the quarterback position and inconsistent blocking by the offensive line, the Midshipmen have struggled to run the ball effectively.
Defensive reads are being missed, line of scrimmage checks are not being made and the ball is not getting where it needs to be. An offense predicated on precision and pace has been out of sync.
Navy is not running the option at the speed it normally does and the timing is off. Missed blocking assignments only compound the problems.
