Patrick Spencer wasn't even a twinkle in his father's eye the last time Loyola University had a first team All-American attackman.
Jim Blanding was a first team selection by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association way back in 1990. It took almost three decades for the Greyhounds to land another attackman on the first team.
Spencer, who wasn't born until 1996, was named first team All-American by USILA on Wednesday, an honor that was both deserved and expected following a monstrous sophomore season. The Davidonsville resident set single-season school and Patriot League records by dishing off 55 assists and also scored 28 goals.
