When the Military Bowl moved to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in 2013, Dean D’Camera decided to conduct a big tailgate party to support the college football game.
D’Camera set up shop in the grassy area along Taylor Avenue and spent the first few years within sight of two friends holding their own tailgate parties. D’Camera looked left and saw Jimmy Ellis grilling away then looked right and spotted Kurt Beall serving up pitchers of beer.
In fact, local residents that were friends with all three men were rotating through each of the tailgate parties.
“We were having separate tailgate parties within 100 feet off each other and it just didn’t make a whole lot of sense,” said D’Camera, owner of D’Camera Group, an Annapolis based insurance company.
