As a senior men’s lacrosse standout at the Naval Academy, Kern has become accustomed to this being the most hectic time of the year.
A rare four-year starting goalkeeper, Kern has learned how to juggle his academic, athletic and military responsibilities during the lacrosse season that lasts from mid-January to late May.
Strange was the word Kern used to describe sheltering in place at the home of his girlfriend’s family in Chatham, Massachusetts since departing the academy for good in mid-March. He spends days doing online learning and taking walks on the beach to break up the boredom instead of preparing for Patriot League games.
