Loyola had not won a Patriot League Tournament game since joining the conference prior to the 2013-2014 season. Navy had never lost its tournament opener during the tenure of head coach Stefanie Pemper.
Both streaks came to an end on Monday night.
Senior forward Jeneh Perry and sophomore guard Bri Betz-White scored 13 points apiece as third-seeded Loyola rallied from a big first-half deficit to earn a thrilling 44-42 victory over No. 6 Navy in a quarterfinal affair at Reitz Arena.
Senior guard Colleen Marshall scored the game-winning basket off a tough pull-up jumper under heavy defensive pressure with just one-tenth of a second remaining to propel Loyola into a semifinal matchup against second-seeded Bucknell on Friday at West Point.
