Hockey for Heroes event set for Navy rink

For those who enjoy ice hockey and want to help the country's military veterans, the U.S. Naval Academy's McMullen Ice Arena will be the place to be this weekend for the third annual Hockey for Heroes.

The event is a 24-hour, around-the-clock exhibition tournament designed to raise awareness and provide financial support for various organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project and Truckin4Troops.

"I was inspired by a 24-hour lacrosse tournament in Baltimore, Shootout for Soldiers," said Amy Hitt, the Event Chair for Hockey for Heroes. "I saw it one morning on the news. I thought we should try something like it down here, in a hockey rink.
