Joseph Greenspan admits he owes Keenan Reynolds a debt of gratitude.
When Reynolds was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on April 30 it began a process within the U.S. Navy that ultimately led to Greenspan being allowed to rejoin the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.
In mid-May, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced that Reynolds would be allowed to pursue an NFL career while serving in the Naval Reserve Force. That decision applied to all recent Naval Academy graduates involved with professional sports and Greenspan — like Reynolds and fellow football players Joe Cardona (New England Patriots) and Chris Swain (San Diego Chargers) — accepted the reserve option.
