Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said this week he’s in no hurry to hire a head coach for men’s lacrosse and will take whatever time necessary to ensure he finds the right person to lead the program forward.
On May 2, Gladchuk fired Rick Sowell following the coach’s eight season at the helm of the Midshipmen. Sowell was let go with two years remaining on his contract because the veteran athletic director thought Navy needed different leadership in order to take the next step in its development.
“In some cases, there just comes a time when it feels appropriate to change direction,” Gladchuk said at the time.
