A Notre Dame football player tested positive for COVID-19, according to a tweet posted Monday by the team’s public relations account.
The team began voluntary workouts Monday to prepare for the 2020 season, which will kick off Labor Day weekend against Navy at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
According to the release, of the 91 players tested, one was positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, though the player is asymptomatic. Four others are in self-quarantine, and four tested positive for the COVID-19 antibody. All 50 staff members tested were negative, the release said.
