Organizers sought to create a special and historical environment for the Army-Navy basketball games on Jan. 23.
It marked the first time the hardwood rivalry had been held at Madison Square Garden, billed as the most famous arena in the world.
Unfortunately, things did not go as planned due to the blizzard that hit the East Coast that weekend.
Army-Navy women's basketball got underway in the morning before an extremely sparse crowd comprised mostly of family and friends. "It was very odd for Army-Navy because there was no one in the stands," said Navy head coach Stefanie Pemper, who could hear support personnel talking at the scorer's table.
