D.C. United trains at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in advance of April 14 contest

Professional soccer came to Annapolis on Thursday as D.C. United conducted a short walk-through in advance of its debut in the Capital City. Following a roughly hour-long training session, head coach Ben Olsen and striker Patrick Mullins declared Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium a very suitable venue.

D.C. United is coming to Annapolis out of necessity since its new stadium is still under construction. Audi Field is scheduled to open on July 14, but until then the Major League Soccer team is playing 12 of its first 14 matches on the road.

United are playing two “home”games outside the District of Columbia with the first coming March 17 at Maryland Soccerplex in Montgomery County.
