Navy has been playing lacrosse since 1908 so it stands to reason the program would rank among the all-time victory leaders.
Even against the backdrop of that 112-year history, the Midshipmen still produced a major milestone on Friday night in Annapolis.
Sophomore attackman Christian Daniel was the offensive catalyst with five goals and an assist as Navy beat UMBC, 11-6, to become just the fourth college lacrosse program to reach 800 wins. Goalkeeper Ryan Kern recorded 14 saves to anchor a second straight solid defensive effort for the Midshipmen, who never trailed in the contest.
Navy now has an all-time record of 800-357-14, trailing only Johns Hopkins (983-335-15), Syracuse (903-348-16) and Maryland (824-271-4).
