College Roundup: St. Mary's grad Lewnes named UMBC lacrosse captain

UMBC MEN'S LACROSSE: Seniors Zach Esser and Nate Lewnes (St. Mary's) have been selected by Retriever squad as its captains for the 2015-16 academic year.

Lewnes led UMBC in scoring with 31 goals and 33 total points last spring. The attackman needs just two points to reach the 100-point mark in his career. He posted 30 or more goals for the second consecutive campaign, becoming just the sixth player in UMBC's Division I history to reach the plateau in back-to-back years.

Lewnes scored a goal or more in all 13 games in 2015 and ran his goal-scoring streak to 18 consecutive games, which ranks ninth the nation entering the 2016 campaign.
