NAVY WOMEN’S SOCCER: The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Teams were announced on Thursday and the Navy women’s soccer pairing of senior midfielder Meghan Hegarty and sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Fortson were recognized as two of the top 11 student-athletes in the region. Made up of NCAA Division I schools in the D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia area, Fortson was District II’s only goalie, while Hegarty was one of three midfielders named to the team.
For Hegarty, the 2017 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, this is her third straight CoSIDA Academic All-District award as both her 2015 and 2016 nods turned in Academic All-America honors.
