Caroline Steele was pretty proud of herself after setting a Severn School record by scoring 11 goals against Queen Anne’s as a senior.
John Lamon, one of Steele’s many lacrosse-playing uncles, quickly brought her down to earth.
“I remember in high school when I put up 11 goals and my uncle said ‘You’ll never beat your mom’s record.’ That is when I found out that my mom scored something like 17 points in a game one time,” Caroline recalled. “When I heard that I was like ‘Mom, you ball hog!’ I’m not going to lie, at first I didn’t realize my mom was as good as she was.
