Serving as captain of the Navy football program is a year-long proposition.
Darryl Bonner and D.J. Palmore were formally announced as the 2017 captains via a press release issued on Jan. 20 that contained a ringing endorsement from head coach Ken Niumatalolo.
“Being elected team captain at the Naval Academy is one of the highest honors you can receive at an institution that prides itself on producing great leaders,” Niumatalolo said in a statement.
“Darryl and D.J. are not only outstanding football players, but they are great leaders in the locker room and in Bancroft Hall.
