Navy’s patented triple-option offense has sputtered early in the season at various times in the past.
A first-year starting quarterback or revamped offensive line can often cause the system to get out of sync.
It usually doesn’t last long. Previous coach Paul Johnson invented this particular version of the triple-option and knew exactly how to fix any problems. Current Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo and offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper are two of Johnson’s foremost disciples and understand what needs to be done to get the unique attack clicking on all cylinders.
That is why it is almost shocking to see the Navy triple-option still in disarray six games into this season.
