Zach Abey and Jarid Ryan got to know each other in high school while competing in seven-on-seven competitions. Abey was the quarterback for Archbishop Spalding while Ryan was a cornerback for Severn School.
"I knew Jarid in high school. We were boys. We played seven-on-seven a few times and Spalding beat Severn, of course," Abey said with a laugh. "We've been tight for a while, but being here together has made us even tighter."
Abey and Ryan are now teammates at the Naval Academy. Around campus, the sophomores help each other through academic and military rigors. On the practice field, that competition continues as Abey and Ryan are both on the depth chart on opposite sides of the ball.
