Abey injured as Navy falls to No. 20 Central Florida, 31-21

Offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper has said several times this season that Navy can win with Garret Lewis at quarterback. The Midshipmen may find out if that is true starting on Nov. 2 at Temple.

Starting quarterback Zach Abey suffered an apparent head injury during Saturday’s loss to 20th-ranked Central Florida and his status for Navy’s next game is questionable.

Abey went down early in the third quarter after asborbing a hard shot from linebacker Shaquem Griffin. It was difficult to tell from replays whether it was a helmet-to-helmet hit or whether Abey was shaken up after banging his head on the artificial turf.
