John Vereen is still reeling after his home was almost destroyed by a powerful tornado that swept through Fultondale, Alabama.
The former Severn School and Navy football standout was shaken by the damage he discovered at his property in the suburb of Birmingham. However, Vereen is just grateful his 70-year-old mother survived the dangerous storm that left the house in shambles.
“I can fix my house over time,” Vereen told The Capital on Wednesday afternoon. “I just thank God my mother is safe and that my children weren’t here.”
Vereen’s 12-year-old son, who has autism, and 7-year-old daughter were spending the night with their mother who lives about a half hour away.
