At 131st overall, the Nashville Predators have selected defenseman Spencer Stastney out of the United States National Team Development Program.
The Wisconsin native appeared in 80 games this season and totaled 3 goals and 43 points in. He also scored 1 goal and 5 points in 7 games at the U18 World Junior Championship.
Stastney is another undersized defenseman taken in this year’s draft. He stands at 5’10” and 179 lbs and shoots left-handed. Stastney plays a sound game and has a strong breakout game that can be attributed to his excellent speed.
A bigger role at the University of Notre Dame next year will hopefully help unlock more of his game.
