The Nashville Predators and GM David Poile were more frugal with their money than most teams on day one. As a matter of fact, it was reported that teams spent an NHL League record $616.2 million in committed salaries yesterday, more than double the year before. And that’s with a flat Salary Cap.
Speaking of “committed”, it seems like some of those GMs need to be after spending huge salaries on over 30-year old players with six and seven-year deals. And Toronto, who is supposedly changing their ways signed Matt Martin, a fourth line goon for $10 million over four years.
