The NHL Winter Classic, now in its 10th year, is one of the coolest annual NHL traditions. The first game was held back in 2008 in New York between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres. As snow poured down on Ralph Wilson Stadium that day, fans and players bundled up for the beginning of an amazing tradition.
Since then, 9 games have been played outdoors, with crowds ranging from 38,000-105,000.
The Chicago Blackhawks have appeared 3 times, the most of any team, with the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals each with two appearances.
