The Nashville Predators were aggressive in the offseason in 2006. They signed two Free Agents, Jason Arnott, and J.P. Dumont to add to the team. At the time, the Predators were relying on Paul Kariya and Steve Sullivan to carry the offensive load and both were speedy but rather small.
Both Arnott and Dumont added size to the team and especially in the case of Dumont, speed and offense too. Despite missing 28 games after abdominal surgery, Dumont had scored 20 goals the previous season for the fourth time in five years.
