Tomsula and OC Chryst differ in evaluation

The 49ers head coach and offensive coordinator have taken vastly different approaches to evaluating their last-ranked offense.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - There haven't been many bright spots on the 49ers' offense under first-year coordinator Geep Chryst.

His unit ranks last in the NFL in both scoring and yardage, leading to the benching of starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick after eight games, and is three games away from an offseason that could feature a massive shake up.

When it came to evaluating the offense's struggles, head coach Jim Tomsula and Chryst have taken different approaches.

Chryst has been quick to point out injuries, personnel turnover, lack of experience and, famously, "the hand that you're dealt.
