San Jose State came into the game as favorites, but ended up losing at home to San Diego State. The Spartans coming off an overtime win over the Rebels of UNLV, only managed to score seven points. The Aztec defense really challenged the Spartans to throw the ball, as they stacked the box to contain San Jose State running back Tyler Ervin. San Diego State defense held Ervin to 22 yards on 17 carries.
"They put a lot of guys in the box," Ervin said "They did a lot of different things as far as slanting, different alignments and schemes that we didn't prepare for like we should have.
