The New Mexico Lobos let go of Craig Neal late on March 31 and now are in search of a new head coach. Athletic director Paul Krebs has moved quickly and is meeting with coaches at the Final Four, and interviewing at least former Lobo assistant Joe Dooley.
The financials from New Mexico are not good and they may have to go bargain hunting to find their next head coach, and it doesn't help that the Mountain West had another down year by sending just one team to the NCAA Tournament.
The Lobos job is attractive enough to get some decent names and if the new coach can retain the four players who announced they are leaving to stay then New Mexico would be one of the better teams in the Mountain West next year.
