The New Mexico Lobos dropped their fifth consecutive game of the season on Saturday. This one a 36-7 loss at the hands of the Colorado State Rams. And this loss might be the worst one yet.
The Lobos only mustered 79 yards of offense against the Rams, 63 of which came on the ground. New Mexico completed just 4-of-20 passes for 16 yards. Granted, Terry Wilson was out because of a dislocated elbow suffered last week against San Diego State. Still, CJ Montes had practiced all week with the first team, and yes he is a freshman, but to go just 3-for-19 for 11 yards with two interceptions falls more on the coaching staff than it does on Montes himself.
