Jets rework Ryan Clady's contract

The Jets and Broncos agreed to a trade that sends left tackle Ryan Clady and a seventh-round pick to the Jets in exchange for the Jets sending the Broncos a fifth-round pick. With D'Brickashaw Ferguson retiring the Jets needed a new left tackle and the Broncos had just signed free agent Russell Okung so they needed the cap space more than the oft-injured Clady.

Clady was set to make $19.5 million over the next two years with the Broncos, carrying a $10.1 million cap hit for the upcoming season, but he now has a chance to make even more money through incentives with the Jets while lowering his cap number for this year.
