Chip Kelly willing to yield personnel control

Chip Kelly won't have final say on the 49ers' 53-man roster, getting his new tenure off to a friendly start with general manager Trent Baalke.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Chip Kelly took to the mic for the first time as 49ers' head coach Wednesday, clad in a suit after getting hired last week without any clothes on his person. He took the job in team-issued sweats last Thursday at general manager Trent Baalke's house, where CEO Jed York met him to finalize the deal.

Part of the deal, Kelly said Wednesday, was that he wasn't interested in making personnel decision after having those responsibilities during his final tumultuous season in Philadelphia that led to his firing last month.
