A dominant backcourt performance from the No. 5-seeded Nevada Wolf Pack fueled its 89-82 upset over the No. 5-seeded Boise State in the quarterfinal round of the Mountain West Tournament Thursday.
Desmond Cambridge, who was named to the All-Mountain West third team earlier this week, had a dominant two-way performance. He recorded a season-high 31 — two shy of tying his career high — points on 11-of-19 shooting and 4-of-8 from deep, adding two blocks and two seals.
He was joined by star guard Grant Sherfield, who earned All-Mountain West first team honors and was named the conference’s Newcomer of the Year.
