The 49ers have added another running back amid their slew of injuries at the position.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - A day after adding Shaun Draughn to help the 49ers' depleted group of running backs, the team is adding another: former Saints halfback Pierre Thomas. The move was first reported by Thomas' agent, Lamont Smith, on Twitter.
Thomas last played with the New Orleans Saints in 2014 before getting released in March. During his eight-year career with the Saints, Thomas, 30, averaged 4.6 yards per rushing attempt. His best season came in 2009, when he amassed 793 yards rushing in 14 games as a part of the Saints' committee of running backs, which included current 49er Reggie Bush.
