Samuel Piette looks almost certain to become Canada’s latest half-centurion in international football having been called up along with Montreal team-mates Kamal Miller and Joel Waterman for the World Cup double-header in Orlando and Bradenton, Florida.
Piette needs only one more cap to reach the landmark number.
Canada’s first game is against Bermuda on Thursday (25 March, in Orlando) and the second next Sunday (28 March, in Bradenton).
The group games conclude in June with further fixtures against Aruba and Suriname. If, as expected, Canada top the group, they will play in a double-header most likely against Haiti for a place in the Octagonal to decide which CONCACAF teams qualify for Qatar 2022.
