When you least expect it

MONTREAL – There is no substitute for experience. Mike Condon is certainly in agreement there.

After earning a roster spot with the Canadiens out of training camp, it’s safe to say the 25-year-old rookie netminder didn’t expect to make 55 appearances between the pipes – including 51 starts – playing behind the likes of Carey Price. But, when Price went down with an MCL sprain in his right knee in late November, the Canadiens turned to Condon to carry the bulk of the load the rest of the way. It was nothing short of a baptism by fire for the Holliston, MA native, who was literally thrust into the spotlight in Montreal for the final five-and-a-half months of the year.
