Two-year extension for Tomas Plekanec

BROSSARD -- The Canadiens have come to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward Tomas Plekanec (2016-18).

The 32-year-old was on the final year of a six-year contract in 2015-16. Plekanec will now be with the Canadiens for at least two more seasons, until 2018.

The Czech center has an enjoyed an excellent start to the year, racking up four goals in fives games with a plus-7 differential.

Drafted by Montreal in 2001, Plekanec has played 766 career regular season games with the Canadiens, tallying a total of 206 goals and 503 points -- moving into 21st place all-time among Habs pointgetters, past Ralph Backstrom (502 pts) and Bob Gainey (501 pts).
