Montreal Canadiens center Tomas Plekanec was unsurprisingly one of the players named to the first wave of skaters chosen for the Czech Republic for this summer's World Cup of Hockey.

Teams will be making their initial selections throughout the day. Andrei Markov has already been selected for Team Russia. The other teams will have announcements throughout the day.
Plekanec leads all Canadiens forwards in scoring and is tied for third (behind David Krejci, Jakub Voracek and tied with Jaromir Jagr) among Czechs in the NHL this season.
