Retaining defenseman Jeff Petry was an intelligent move. Petry has sustained impressive underlying numbers despite playing on some awful Edmonton Oilers' teams. However, the Canadiens will now need to work on freeing up capspace. [L'actualité] (French)
Full credit must be given to GM Marc Bergevin for managing to sign Petry to a reasonable contract. Had Jeff Petry decided to test free agency, he would have probably landed a significantly bigger salary. [TSN]
