Below is an original press release from legendary publicist Lee Solters, a man who handled publicity over the years for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Jackie Gleason, Mae West, Barbra Streisand, the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, and the Beatles’ Apple Corp.
This 1974 document, which I got recently, put the kibosh on any Beatles reunion rumors, and gives Paul McCartney’s thoughts on the subject.
As an aside, a couple of years later, producer Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live went on his show and offered the Beatles $3000 if they would reunite and play SNL. He jokingly said “This check is made out to the Beatles – you divide it up any way you want.
