The Montreal Canadiens appoint Sean Burke as professional scout

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Thursday the appointment of Sean Burke as professional scout for the western region.

Sean Burke, 49, spent six seasons as a member of the Coyotes hockey management as goaltending coach and director of player development before being promoted to assistant general manager on July 10, 2012. In addition to his role with the Coyotes, Burke was named to Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence management group, which oversees hockey operations for the men’s under -17, under -18, and under -20 programs.

The Windsor, Ontario, native who began his career with the Canadian National Team back in 1986-87, enjoyed an outstanding 18-year NHL career suiting up with the New Jersey Devils, Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes.
