With rookie camp now wrapped up, the real tryouts for the 2018-19 NHL season begin. The Montreal Canadiens will be evaluating 66 players in training camp, testing some of their free-agent signees versus some of their own young drafted prospects.
With injuries to Shea Weber, Andrew Shaw, and Paul Byron, there will be chances for some players to earn spots. Cale Fleury, who has yet to receive his entry-level contract, is one player who will be vying for an open spot on the right side of the defence. Jesperi Kotkaniemi, despite looking a bit inexperienced in the Rookie Showdown, is also being given a look among the professional players.
